YCN Student Awards shine a light on creative talent

Two students at Bedford College have received awards that will see their designs showcased for international brands featured in the Young Creative Network (YCN) Awards.

Facing tough competition from major Colleges and Universities across the UK, Terry Moss and Laura Wills will have their work displayed on the YCN website and at a prestigious Awards evening at the O2 Arena in August, where they will receive their awards.

The awards for innovative creative design were won by Terry Moss for Bacardi and Laura Wills for Hovis.  Terry and Laura are HND Graphics Year 2 students.

Both students had to come up with innovative ideas to meet the briefs from international brands Bacardi and Hovis. They can be summarised as:

Bacardi - “help us flirt with our fans and adorers”

Barcadi 'fancy a lip dance?'

Hovis - “build on the love for our brand and its heritage by creating a range of branded Hovis merchandise”

Sue Blackman, Director of Centre for the Arts, said:

“This is an outstanding achievement for our students and it's superb to see Bedford College amongst the top Art & Design University courses in the UK.”

“To have one award is excellent but to have two from one course shows the high standards that are at the heart of our arts courses and achieved by our talented students.  I congratulate the students and course team on the awards.”

The YCN Student Awards shine a light on new creative talent and are based around a collection of live creative briefs.  Work is produced across all media and represents the finest creative talent for commissions and collaborations.
Terry and Laura have set a high standard for creative excellence and are applauded by Bedford College students and staff.
