Design and safety go hand in glove
An award winning poster by a student at Bedford College gets
across Health and Safety messages in a dramatic fashion.
Lauren Walsh, studying National Diploma in Graphic Design,
received first prize in a national competition set by the British
Glove Association. Lauren met the brief to “design a poster
that is hard hitting, has visual impact and is attention grabbing
and above all will encourage the wearing of protective gloves on
construction sites.”
Fashion designer Jeff Banks, CBE, will present Lauren with a
cheque for £300 and a framed certificate at a prize giving ceremony
in London on 6th July.
Sue Blackman, Director of Centre for the Arts, said:
“This is a considerable achievement for Lauren and Bedford
College, following our award winning success at these awards in
2007. It shows the creative excellence set at Bedford College
with students winning national awards against stiff competition
from arts colleges and universities across the UK. Lauren's
poster design is of the highest creative standard and certainly
hard hitting!”
The British Glove Association's design competitions have now
been running since 1975, encouraging students to create practical
yet original designs.
