Creative buzz at South Bank Arts Centre
The South Bank Arts Centre at Bedford was a
hive of creative activity at the opening of photographer Grete
Dalum-Tilds' exhibition in March.
Educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in
Copenhagen and California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles,
Grete has exhibited internationally and has work in the National
Photography Museum in Denmark. “Beach, house, dress” is
a thought provoking exhibition now open at the South Bank Arts
Centre until 31 March 2011.

Grete explained “Photography is about trying
to understanding something and use it to store aspects of the world
you don't physically understand. This new body of work
explores the gap between memory and language, in the description of
personal objects.”
Sue Blackman, Director for Arts and Sixth Form
at Bedford College, added:
“This is an exciting exhibition by Grete
Dalum-Tilds, Associate Lecturer in Photography at Bedford
College. The exhibition has also given us an opportunity to
bring together people from across business and the creative
industries to see what Bedford College has to offer. The
South Bank Arts Centre is a community space for artistic talent and
a creative hub where people can meet and see for themselves what is
possible in the art world.
“The South Bank Arts Centre will also host the
Creative Bedfordshire Business breakfast on Tuesday 12 April at
7.15 am, linking local businesses and creative industry
specialists. We are delighted to welcome Deborah Dalton, Chief
Executive of the Design Business Association, to talk to local
business people and those working in the creative industries about
how the creative sector and the vast range of services it provides
can help their business to grow and become
successful.
The next creative event on the calendar in
Bedford is the Castle Quay Weekender to be held on 19 and 20 March,
with workshops, pop up shops, art, acoustics, buskers, wine tasting
and more.
